Celebrating your impact on patients and their loved ones, creating a healthier future for all New Brunswickers

BoardChair+President

A letter from our board chair & president:

Dear friends,

Thank you for your generous support over the last year. On behalf of our Board of Directors and staff, it gives us great pleasure to share with you our 2022-23 Annual Report.

The following pages celebrate the successes you made possible last year. In total, 3,585 supporters came together to fund critical areas of patient care, including healthcare innovations, cardiac health, mental health, recruitment & retention and patient experience and access.

Because of you, robotic-assisted surgery arrived in New Brunswick. This innovative technology means that patients are receiving the best surgical care possible, right here at home.

Your generous support also allowed us to invest in initiatives to attract top talent to our hospital and our region. Together, we are building strong leaders to secure health care for the future.

Other accomplishments include the ground-breaking of The J.T. Clark Family Foundation Ambulatory Clinic and a transformational gift to impact addictions and mental health.

Over $1 million was also granted to community-based organizations to improve patient access and experience in Saint John and beyond.

We are so grateful for you, and all that you make possible. Thank you for creating a healthier future, together.

Robotic-Assisted
Surgery

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and chose robotic-assisted surgery. I spent one night in the hospital, and the next morning I came home. Thank you to all the donors who brought robotic surgery to New Brunswick.

Cardiac care

The Simman (Simulation) ALS Manikin

Thanks to you, cardiac nurses are better prepared for the operating room.

The NB Heart Centre is a center of excellence in every way possible, and that now includes our simulation program. The manikin improves the realism of a simulation environment and enhances the engagement of learners. It can simulate breathing and has a beating heart that is audible and palpable. As the education lead in our program, I am so excited to have this technology.

Mental health

Ridgewood Addiction & Mental Health Services

Your support enabled a new partnership to help patients struggling with mental health and addictions.

To the donors who are supporting the renovations and upgrades, I want them to know their money isn’t going to waste. It’s going to help people’s future. If you’re in a brand-new building with nice surroundings, it makes you look at what you want for your future, and it will create an environment that will make people want to stay and complete their treatment to get better and build a better life.

Recruitment & retention

The Transforming Healthcare Fund

Your generosity is attracting and retaining top talent.

We are happy to have the Foundation’s support as we educate the next generation of New Brunswick nurses and create opportunities for working nurses to realize their leadership potential. Community partnerships like this are at the core of UNB’s Integrated Health Initiative (IHI), which is creating a world-class health innovation centre right here in New Brunswick.

Patient impact

Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

Your generosity is providing heart education to cardiac patients.

The Cardiac Rehab Program helped me fight back after surgery. It got me past the ‘Woe is me. Why did this happen to me?’ and helped me find my inner strength. Now I’m passing healthy habits along to my kids. We’re proud to give back to the program that gave so much to us.
